I agree with Cllr. Hunt, that many of us had hope at the beginning and gave support to STC. I think the tax amount was reasonable if it produced continuous achievements for Southsea. However it fell foul to the polarized political situation here between conservatives and liberal democrats, and more time was spent by STC councillors in this struggle than in improving Southsea. Now to answer the question: I am voting NO to the continuance of STC because the City Council - that has the real funding - is likely to pay less attention to Southsea if it surmises that Southsea is being looked after by its own council. I do not wish to pay extra tax to a regime with no clear mandate and doubtful transparency. Not entirely sure what their aims and objectives are , but see it as typical Tory power grabbing with no benefit to local community. Submitted By: lesley fraser

This council has no powers except to waste money, which is all it did for years before the Lib Dems took control. Now the reserves from the coffers are going to good causes, but the only way to make sure we can't be charged extra again is to get rid of the Town Council! Vote No! Submitted By: Phil Smith

When we used to pay a substantial extra council tax for the Southsea Town Council I saw no benefit. It seemed to go towards renting a commercial premises which was an ad-hoc art gallery. As a business owner I can see the use of a commercial premises at the taxpayers expense is a nice bonus for the people selling their art. I don't think I could have had a corner to advertise my business there. On 2 occasions I used this office I encountered rude patronising people. So no I don't want extra tax on these difficult time for no benefit to the town as a whole. Submitted By: Colin Martin

I'd never heard of it until my local Liberal Democrat email. I've never seen anything about it or used it's services, I go to Portsmouth City Council for everything that's required for a council. Why would I pay for something that might as well not exist Submitted By: Ciaran Harmer

Why should the residents of Southsea pay additional tax for what became and would be a glorified talking shop? How much money has been wasted in recent years with this to-ing and fro-ing, because of egotistical local politicians wishing to create their own tiny ivory tower to sit in? All the dealings from planning to education, from development to recreation, can be and are dealt with adequately in PCC. Submitted By: Mark Yeates
